GPMT Holds Latest National Feed Industry Panel Discussion

Bekasi (TROBOSLIVESTOCK.COM). The Association of Animal Feed Companies (GPMT) held a Panel Discussion with the theme "Sustainability Feed Industry in Indonesia 2024" at the Avenzel Hotel and Convention Cibubur, Bekasi, West Java on Tuesday (14/11). The event was attended by approximately 80 people consisting of representatives of members, government agencies and invitees. Meanwhile, the speakers included, Nur Saptahidhayat, Director of Feed, Directorate General of Animal Husbandry and Animal Health, Ministry of Agriculture (Ditjen PKH Kementan), Nuryani Zainuddin Director of Animal Health (Dirkeswan, Directorate General of PKH, Ministry of Agriculture), Alexander Lubis Head of the Macro-Inflation Economics Group (Deputy Director) Bank Indonesia, Oscar Tjakra Executive Director RaboResearch Food and Agriculture Rabobank, Imam Sujono Seed Marketing Head PT Syngenta Indonesia and Stefanus AndreNational Sales Supervisor–Feedmill, PT FKS Multi Agro Tbk.

Desianto Budi Utomo, General Chair of GPMT, said that in his speech this time GPMT was holding a panel discussion, not a seminar or Focus Group Discussion (FGD) because it had been almost 3 years since the management and members had met. "We last met in Batu, Malang before the Covid-19 outbreak," he said.

He stated that in 2023, the animal feed industry will grow 1 – 3% with a total corn requirement of 8,343,649 tonnes and a monthly average of 695,304 tonnes and an assumed corn requirement for formulations of 48%. However, the total realization until September 2023 is 5,645,483 tons with a monthly average of 627,276 tons and the assumption is that the need for corn for formulation is 43%.

Meanwhile, for 2024, the national feed industry is estimated to grow by around 5% from 2023 or around 19 million tons. Several factors underlying this growth estimate include 2024 being a political year (the year of the democratic party). "It is hoped that the community's economy will grow and many government programs will be distributed to the community, including animal protein products," he explained.

Then, he continued, it is estimated that in 2024 El Nino will not occur so that the need for corn for feed factories can be met. Then there is a government program to increase rice and corn production.ramdan
